Open and Networked Teaching

The positive and negative aspects of my learning the network and its innumerable programs and applications is really quite small. There are so many tools for so many purposes that it seems to be too much. I have learned some of the basics of some programs such as Youtube, I even downloaded a video once and onto wikispaces. I found it so cool to be able to do that. It required some reading and some trial and error and some cursing and so on. But too be able to do that was awesome. My project is on wikispaces. I was still able to make the site work for my students to be able to conduct their assignments online. I heard some great feedback from some of them in our classroom. Some even said it was better than learing in the classroom. I had them do a small unit in bullying. www.dlinkela10b.wikispaces.com , If you have any ideas as to how I can improve this site as I will be using it again later, feel free to send your comments to www.djlink_ssl@hotmail.com. Thanks. I didn’t quite use the full potential of wikispaces but I am aware there is way more to it than what I have used so far. I’m still learing about it. That’s it for now.

  1. Darren I have to congratulate you on your learning through this class. You have truly embraced the idea of being a 21st century teacher by demonstrating your willingness to share what you are doing and then asking others for suggestions. That is the message I have been getting throughout our EC&I 831 class!

I visited your site briefly and can tell you are working at it! I would suggest you add a page with links to bullying websites. I would also suggest that you give the students a little more detail on the assignments. For example, when you ask for a poem are you thinking ‘Free Verse’. Why not give them a link to some poetry sites that would help them understand that there are multiple ways of composing a poem. Just some thoughts. Hope they help.
